New Aaron Tippin Song Honors First Responders

As Aaron Tippin once sang, You’ve Got To Stand For Something. He’s been doing so his entire 25 year career in Country music, and has never been shy when it comes to standing up for our Nation and the people who make it great. That’s why Tippin is paying tribute to the brave and heroic first responders serving our communities with his new single One Of The Good Guys. The song serves an even bigger purpose, as proceeds from the sales will go to assist an injured Houston firefighter.

On May 31st, 2013, Bill Dowling was among the firefighters who responded to a five-alarm hotel fire in Houston. Just after arriving on the scene, the roof collapsed. Sadly, four of the firefighters: Matthew Renaud (Station 51), Robert Bebee (Station 51), Anne Sullivan (Station 68), and Robert Garner (Station 68) were killed, with several more severely injured.

Dowling (a member of Station 68) was partially pinned under the debris but was able to push his Mayday button and get out in time. However his injuries were so severe that doctors were unsure whether Dowling would live through the night. “Iron Bill” eventually had both of his legs partially amputated. One of his biggest challenges is getting around, so his brother firefighters in Houston have teamed up to raise $800,000 to purchase a special van to accommodate his needs.

Along with the organization Help The Good Guys, Tippin has joined the cause. In addition to the song, Aaron will be holding a concert at Stafford, Texas’ Redneck Country Club on Friday March 27th where all proceeds will go to help Iron Bill purchase the special vehicle.
