The year was 1990.

Country music star Aaron Tippin was just starting out in the music business after he was invited to join RCA records.

In Crossville, Stonehaus Winery was just opening its doors.

Both the Stonehaus family and Tippin have enjoyed 25 years of doing what they love, and they're joining together to celebrate with a special concert Sept. 4 at Stonehaus Winery on Genesis Rd.

"Our business model is being a good neighbor," said Rob Ramsey, vice president of Stonehaus, of the winery's 25th anniversary. "When you send good things out, good things return. That's how we will always operate."

Stonehaus Winery began as a partnership between the Ramsey family, winemaker Fay Wheeler, and Dr. Lloyd Hassler, Martin Clark and Jaime Clar McGuire. In 2010, the winery became a "family owned" business with the members of the Ramsey family not only serving as owners but also managing the day-to-day business.

Stonehause was chosen to recognize the distinctive native Tennessee Quartzite Stone found in the area and "haus," German for house, to recognize Wheeler's time in Germany while serving in the U.S. military.

Today, Stonehaus has 25 wines available.

"It's always fun to come up with new ideas, but it is hard to let the favorites go," Ramsey said.
