Nashville Edge Minute: News from Willie Nelson, Aaron Tippin

By Phyllis Stark. CREATED Dec 12, 2014

The prolific Willie Nelson has yet another new album in stores now. That story tops the music news - now trending - on our weekly video feature, Nashville Edge Minute, on NewsChannel 5 Nashville's "Talk of the Town."

Willie and his older sister and longtime band mate Bobbie Nelson have just released their 18-track new album, “December Day: Willie's Stash Volume 1,” which features the siblings teaming up on songs by such songwriting legends as Irving Berlin and Al Jolson as well as some songs from Willie’s own catalog.

In other news, Aaron Tippin will be celebrating a major career milestone next year: his 25th year in the music business. The singer-songwriter charted his first single, “You’ve Got To Stand For Something,” on Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart in 1990.

He is currently planning a 25th anniversary tour, and is also in the studio finishing up a commemorative album that will feature both new music and newly-recorded versions of his hit songs, something veteran artists often do when their former record labels control the rights to the original recordings.

Aaron is best known for his three No. 1 hits, “There Ain’t Nothin’ Wrong With The Radio,” ”That's As Close As I’ll Get To Loving You” and “Kiss This,” as well as six other top 10 hits.
